10 Cinco de Mayo Hacks that will make your fiesta Loco!
By Cooking Panda
Hey, here’s a fun fact: Cinco de Mayo isn’t Mexico’s Independence Day.
Nope, and it’s not celebrated in Mexico either.
But that should not hold anyone back from enjoying it.
So do you want to take your Cinco de Mayo to loco levels?
Well here are 10 tips and tricks that will help you do exactly that!
Use watermelon as a keg!
Don’t worry, its not an Instagram challenge. Get yourself a watermelon, carve it’s inside out, scoop out the meat, and plug a plastic spigot.
- Don’t let your Guacamole go brown!
This happens because of oxidization. To avoid it, put the Guacamole in an airtight container. Flatten the surface with a spoon and get rid of any air pockets. Cover the Guacamole by pouring half an inch of water. After refrigerating for two days, it is ready to be served once you pour off the water and stir the Guacamole.
- Use Tajin as a Margarita Rim Topper
This is the perfect alternative to (boring, generic) salt that will give your Margarita a new kind of kick.
- Avoid crushed tacos!
Hard tacos are cool, but you gotta try soft tacos, they are durable and ready for toppings of your choice.
- Creative Margaritas
Margaritas are easy to make and fully customizable. To name a few things that could be added to it – kiwis, strawberries, watermelon, cilantro, avocados, cantaloupe, grapefruit, jalapeños and also pineapples (both raw and grilled)
- Heating Soft Tacos
An extension to the previous tip, warm tacos rule! To warm it, hang them upside down in an oven.
- Improve Your Salsa Selection
Get some good quality ingredients. To find out whether a mango or an avocado is ripe or not, just by checking whether it’s soft enough while buying them at the store.
- Find the Perfect Heat Level
This could be done by tasting everything and adjusting the quantity accordingly. For example, based on how much of it you use, Jalapenos can be either like green peppers or as hot as habaneros.
- Save your meat
Want to repurpose, try Taco flavored meat. You can use it in the next day quesadillas and wraps.
