A Fast Food Crab Sandwich Is Available At McDonald’s

While many people rely on fast food because it is affordable and fast, many people also like it because the menus tend to be fairly consistent: if you want something chicken-themed, you’ll be able to find something at Chick-fil-A. Want a taco? Live more at Taco Bell. For classic golden french fries, you can hit up most burger places (although McDonald’s definitely has one of the most popular iterations).

But what about crab sandwiches? Which chain offers those?

As it happens, McDonald’s now has those too — in select locations, for the time being.

On Feb. 9, McDonald’s reported that several of its restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area are currently testing its newest menu item, the McDonald’s Crab Sandwich. The sandwich is the brainchild of chef and TV personality Ryan Scott, of “Top Chef” fame, who partnered up with McDonald’s to develop the meal.

The Crab Sandwich is made with Snow Crab meat, which is then mixed with diced celery and seasoned mayo dressing. That mixture is served on a bed of romaine lettuce and tomato slices, all on a toasted sourdough bun that is brushed with herbed butter.

“After the overwhelming success of our local favorite, McDonald’s Gilroy Garlic Fries, we wanted to test our own take on the beloved crab sandwich,” Nick Vergis, the McDonald’s Co-op president in the San Francisco Bay Area, said in the press release. “We’re excited for our customers to try it and share their feedback.”

If the new Crab Sandwich receives enough positive feedback, it is slated to become available at nearly 250 McDonald’s restaurants across the San Francisco Bay Area later in 2017, and we’re certainly intrigued to see how the experiment pans out.

After all, where else can you go and get a reliable, quick and cheap crab sandwich?
