Hershey’s Introduces New Syrup With Only 5 Ingredients

By Cooking Panda

Hershey’s is introducing a simpler version of its iconic chocolate syrup, Simply 5. This new syrup, with just five ingredients, boasts no high-fructose corn syrup, non-GMO ingredients, and no artificial flavors or preservatives.

“People are looking for products that taste great and have ingredients that they recognize, know and trust,” explained Kriston Ohm, senior brand manager for Hershey’s Syrups and Toppings, as reported by Business Wire. “Hershey’s Simply 5 Syrup is another way to share the sweetness and the memories that our iconic syrup evokes, with five simple ingredients and nothing else.”

The five ingredients are cocoa, water, real vanilla beans, pure cane sugar, and organic invert cane syrup, which is derived from sugar cane. To compare, the regular chocolate syrup contains high-fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, water, cocoa, sugar, potassium sorbate, salt, monoglycerides and diglycerides, xanthan gum, polysorbate 60, and vanillin, as noted by Brand Eating.

Simply 5 is The Hershey Company’s way of demonstrating its commitment to simplicity. With the launch of the new syrup, Hershey’s is encouraging customers to share the simple things for which they are grateful on social media with the #Simply5 hashtag.

“In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, making time for traditions can seem daunting,” said Ohm. “We want to show people that it doesn’t have to be complicated, so we’re asking them to share a five word recount of what made their day sweet with #Simply5. It’s all about celebrating the sweetness in everyday moments.”
