Brach’s Tempting New Candy Corn Tastes Like Cookies (Photo)

By Cooking Panda

If McDonald’s created as many new flavors of McFlurries as Brach’s does of candy corn, we’d live in a tastier world. Alas, for now, we can reap the benefits of Brach’s impressively prolific candy-corn line. Their new flavor, cookie, is making waves on social media.

Instagram snack-food insider The Junk Food Aisle posted a photo of Brach’s cookie-flavored candy corn, filled with multi-colored cone-shaped candies that are said to taste like chocolate chip, oatmeal, cookies and cream, and butter cookies.

They’re neither orange nor adorned with pumpkins or spooky creatures, which gives us an excellent excuse to try them far before Halloween.

There aren’t many reviews on the new product, but things aren’t looking very positive thus far.

“These taste like straight up artificial flavor and alcohol based butter extract,” an Instagram user commented on The Junk Food Aisle’s photo.

A reviewer on The Impulsive Buy was also less than pleased.

“I did not like them,” they said. “They don’t taste like the cookie flavors they are supposed to be and the smell of the candy was off putting. I ate a couple of each flavor and tossed the rest of the bag in the trash.

“Brachs has had some very good candy corn limited flavors the past few years. These are not one of them.”

Even still, as a steadfast candy-corn fan, my curiosity is piqued. Brach’s delicious yet wildly unsafe combination of sugar, corn syrup, gelatin and artificial flavor has not let me down so far, and I’m particularly interested in sampling this butter cookie variety of candy corn, which I’m sure must bear some resemblance to a tasty piece of shortbread.

Granted, I have only tasted the tried-and-true original flavor and have no experience with Brach’s other adventurous candy corns, like their “brunch favorites” line or their pumpkin spice and caramel macchiato flavors, which all received mixed reviews.

The Junk Food Aisle found a bag of cookie candy corn at the Dollar General, and the flavor is also available at Candy Warehouse at $5 for a 15-ounce package.

Stop The Presses! Tic Tac Gum is A New, Real Thing! (Video)

By Cooking Panda

Tic Tac has announced a whole new product line … of gum! If you love those little mints, but feel like they may not last long enough to keep bad breath at bay, this is the solution.

Delish reports that Tic Tac is now offering its own version of crunchy-coated gum. The flavors come in Cool Watermelon, Freshmint and Spearmint.

Tic Tac Gum

The announcement came in video fashion, and it’s actually quite fun to watch. It features 7,000 packs of Tic Tacs, and I feel bad for whomever had to count them.

While the gum won’t be hitting store shelves in the U.S. until January 2018 (weird timing for a watermelon flavor), you can already find it in Italy. You can also find a licorice mint flavor, if that’s your thing. If you do happen to be over that way, see if you can find some of those Simpsons-inspired flavors that debuted in Italy (and other parts of Europe) in October 2016.

What we do have here are a few new Tic Tac flavors to keep us satisfied. Tic Tac has a new line of “Mixers,” which feature changing flavors. For example, for the Cherry Cola flavor, you’ll taste cherry, then cola. There are Cherry to Cola and the Peach to Lemonade flavors currently available. Both very summery!

The classic mint and orange flavors are pretty much always available. There’s a Fruit Adventure flavor that’s also kind of fun for summer. It features four different fruity flavors in one little Tic Tac box. Try this one or Strawberry Fields if you’re looking for something a little different. If you’re more into classic mints, there’s also a Wintergreen and Spearmint Mix.

On a side note, Tic Tac is partnering with the “Despicable Me” folks to offer up a sweepstakes for a chance to win a free trip to Hawaii. The promotion runs through May, June and July and ends on August 3. During that period, all you have to do to enter the sweepstakes is go to, navigate to the Despicable Me 3 Sweepstakes tab, and then click the “Go Enter” button at the bottom of the page. You need to create a sign-in and fill out a form with your information. Then, voila! You’re entered!

You have to be 18 or older to enter and it’s a random drawing. There’s a grand prize trip to Hawaii and even extra spending cash. This news is sweet enough to make you forget that you have to wait until January for the Tic Tac gum, wouldn’t you agree?

Two New Oreo Thins Flavors Are Coming Soon! (Photo)

By Cooking Panda

If there’s one brand that takes pumping out new flavors seriously, it’s Oreos.

Honestly, I can’t remember a stretch of time that the classic cookie hasn’t released a new flavor, whether permanent or for a limited run, for longer than a few months at most — and I’m not mad about it.

Some Oreo flavors have been total hits; some have had surprising side-effects (such as the Peeps Oreo that turned people’s tongues and poop bright pink, just like the pink creme stuffing); some have been absolutely disgusting.

So gear up, Oreos fans, and get your taste buds ready because this summer Oreos is releasing not one, but two new flavors — only instead of in the standard Oreo form, it’s the Oreo Thins that are getting the new flavor treatment.

As the Instagram account called The Junk Food Aisle posted, coconut and caramel Oreo Thins are coming to a snack aisle near you.

“Coming Soon! Salted Caramel & Coconut Oreo Thins! The images attached are just mockups and while I can confirm Salted Caramel will have a Golden cookie, I am only assuming a Chocolate cookie for Coconut,” the Instagram photo was captioned.

While Oreos hasn’t confirmed anything yet, these mockups look pretty convincing, and I admit I can’t wait to try a crispy, crunchy ultra-thin caramel Oreo Thin when they come out!

KitKat’s Newest Flavor Sounds Too Gross To Be Real

By Cooking Panda

KitKat has been commissioned to come up with some interesting new flavors, and while they’re working out the best ideas, we’re scratching our heads over the latest …

RocketNews24 reports that Thailand has requested a few new flavors of Nestle KitKats in order to increase tourism. I’m not sure if a new KitKat flavor is a reason to travel to Thailand (but the beaches and resorts totally are), but the flavor ideas seem a bit off the wall.

Three fruits have been mentioned as possible flavor options: the tamarind, which is a sweet and sour fruit, the mangosteen, which is sweet and absolutely loved … and then the “king of fruits” in Asia … the durian.

If you aren’t familiar with this giant smelly fruit, you’re in for a real treat. It’s huge and spiky and is said to smell like such things as decay, sweaty feet, or as Jessica Chastain puts it when feeding it to Jimmy Kimmel, “a garbage can.” Sound tempting? I hope not.

Despite the overbearing smell, the fruit has many fans. Deemed the “bleu cheese of fruit,” Chastain describes it as tasting like onion, garlic, pineapple and avocado mixed into one custard. I’m not sure what part of that sounds mouthwatering, but it must be the king of Asian fruits for a reason.

Now, it’s being reported that Nestle is working on a mockup of a durian-flavored KitKat, which would certainly bring mixed reviews. Exactly what part of this fruit would they be trying to capture? Would a durian-flavored KitKat make people want to travel to Thailand?

To paint a better picture for you, imagine a fruit that is so pungent, it isn’t allowed in some subways and hotels in Asia. It actually has the power to smell up a big space such as either of these places …and the smell is not pleasant. Jessica Chastain and Jimmy Kimmel actually wore gloves to eat one so that the smell wouldn’t rub off!

So, what do you think? Would you want to try a durian-flavored KitKat bar? I think I’ll pass on this one.

We’re Drooling Over Blue Bunny’s New Ice Cream Flavors

By Cooking Panda

The best part about the weather finally starting to shift from the chilly, gray wintry landscape into the warmer, sunshine-filled spring is that companies start releasing brand new sweet treats and ice cream flavors to excite our taste buds and help cool us all down for the oncoming heat waves of summer.

But who’s complaining? Blue Bunny, for example, is totally leading the charge with the release of several new freaking delicious sounding ice cream flavors for early 2017. The company has also cleverly decided to offer new single-serve Bunny Snacks ice cream treats, maybe to help us maintain at least the semblance of a healthy diet as we ditch the warm and cozy comfort food for the refreshing sugar bombs.

Here is the best blue bunny ice cream flavors!

The four flavors of the new Bunny Snacks are Salted Caramel Pretzel, Chocolate Vanilla Twist, Chocolate Chip Cookie and Cookies ‘N Cream, according to Brand Eating. They come in sort of puck-shapes, almost like rounder Klondike bars, and are all individually wrapped. Additionally, they are packaged in re-sealable, transparent freezer bags.

However, what’s really exciting is the new line of flavors Blue Bunny has released.

First up is PB ‘N Cones, a creamy vanilla base with peanut butter swirls and chocolate-dipped cone pieces mixed inside.

Next comes Rockin’ Rocky Road, which is — you guessed it — the brand’s take on Rocky Road ice cream. Think chocolate ice cream, fudge swirls, chocolate-covered almond bits and plenty of marshmallows inside.

The Monster Cookie Mash flavor is peanut butter-flavored ice cream with a fudge ribbon inside, as well as monster cookie dough bits.

Toffee Brownie Twist comes next, and it’s a toffee ice cream brimming with goodies, such as brownie chunks, extra toffee pieces, and a thick and oozy caramel fudge swirl.

Finally the brand is releasing Mint Cookie Crunch, which is mint ice cream with mint chocolate cookie chunks (drool) and fudge swirls mixed inside.

Keep an eye out for the new flavors starting March 17.

Which flavor are you most excited to get your hands on this spring?

Haagen-Dazs New Ice Cream Flavors Are On The Way!

By Cooking Panda

New year, same iconic ice cream brand, but all new flavors!

In honor of 2017 — and perhaps Valentine’s Day? — the popular ice-cream brand Haagen-Dazs has just released four new flavors of ice cream, and they sound absolutely luxurious.

The new flavors come in 14-ounce cartons, and are also accompanied by the release of three new ice cream bar varieties, because the ice-cream Powers That Be clearly can see that we’re all in need of a freaking sweet treat right now.

First up is Peanut Butter Salted Fudge, which, according to Brand Eating, is a salted fudge and chocolate-covered peanut concoction all mixed in to a creamy and smooth peanut butter ice cream.

Yes, please!

Next comes the Toasted Coconut Caramel, which is a coconut ice cream chock full of dulce de leche caramel and delightful bits of toasted coconut.

Third up is the Bourbon Praline Pecan. This flavor actually was already available once as a limited edition special, but was obviously a big enough hit that the company decided to bring it back in a major way. It features bourbon ice cream (we’re drooling) loaded with brown sugar bourbon swirls and praline pecans.

Finally, we have the Espresso Chocolate Cookie Crumble for those who enjoy a little kick with their dessert. The coffee ice cream pint has chocolate espresso flakes and cookie crumbles mixed into its base.

Also, you can look out for the White Chocolate Raspberry, Vanilla Dark Chocolate Cookie and Coconut Dark Chocolate Caramel ice cream bar flavors, which are also currently being rolled out with the ice cream pints, and are all slated to be widely available by spring 2017.

What do you think of all of the new options Haagen-Dazs is rolling out? Are you excited and getting totally amped up for warm weather now? We know we are!

Prepare Yourself For Vanilla Cupcake M&M’s!!!

By Cooking Panda

One Instagram user has M&M’s fans going crazy over a leaked new flavor. The post shows a picture of M&M’s Vanilla Cupcake, and we can’t wait to try it.

According to Delish, the new M&M’s will be white chocolate based and vanilla cupcake flavored. They’ll come in spring colors such as lavender, pale yellow, baby blue and light pink. The Instagram post shows a purple package with the lady green M&M on the front holding a tray of cupcakes. Also on the post is a message about the new flavor only being available at Target.

A post shared by (@junkbanter) on

Instagram user Junk Banter apparently found this new flavor announcement on a Target store weekly flyer, which was uploaded to, for those of you who are interested in scanning through coupons (maybe even for the M&M’s once they’re out). The Vanilla Cupcake flavor is expected to debut after Valentine’s Day, when it makes more sense to release candies that are Easter-colored.

We always look forward to getting a taste of a new M&M’s flavor, and according to Today, the most recent flavor to debut was the White Cheesecake. We’ve also known them to come in the strawberry shortcake variety, as well as pecan pie and hot chocolate. Some have argued that the White Cheesecake M&M’s really only tasted like plain white chocolate, so we’re hoping this new flavor will actually taste like the real deal.

Mars hasn’t officially announced this new flavor yet, so we’re waiting on that as well. Once that much-anticipated press release is available and circulating, we’ll know it’s time to start the taste-testing. We’re not the only ones excited for that part, either! Both Delish and Today have also expressed an eagerness to announce their own taste-test findings. Will M&M’s Vanilla Cupcake taste like the disappointing White Cheesecake flavor, or will they be scrumptious, like the popular peanut butter flavor? Time will surely tell! Keep an eye out at your local Target after Valentine’s Day to decide for yourself.

Ben And Jerry’s Boozy Ice Cream Is Finally Here!

By Cooking Panda

We’re not getting just one new Ben & Jerry’s ice cream flavor, but three! Only one is boozy, though, and that’s the Urban Bourbon that we got so excited over when rumors leaked about it earlier this month.

Remember when Cooking Panda reported that there had been rumors and sightings of this new flavor? From strange Walmart pages that didn’t go anywhere to Candy Hunting putting a picture of the new flavor on Instagram, we were onto good old Ben and Jerry.

Thrillist is now reporting that three new flavors are expected to debut in February 2017, hopefully just in time for Valentine’s Day! Urban Bourbon includes, as we explained before, burnt caramel ice cream with almonds, fudge flakes and bourbon caramel swirls. Again, they mentioned before that it was safe for kids to consume, so I don’t think you’ll be getting a buzz from it.

The other two flavors include Oat of this Swirled (clever!) and Truffle Kerfuffle. The Oat of this Swirled has a base of brown sugar ice cream and features fudge flakes and oatmeal cinnamon cookie swirls. I think it’s safe to imagine it tastes like spoonfuls of oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.

Truffle Kerfuffle includes vanilla ice cream with roasted pecans, fudge flakes and a salted chocolate ganache swirl. That’s different, and it sounds absolutely amazing. According to USA Today, this isn’t the first time Ben & Jerry’s has released an alcohol-inspired ice cream flavor. The company once tried a flavor called Tennessee Mud, which consisted of coffee ice cream, amaretto, Jack Daniels whiskey and almonds. Sounds tasty. I wonder why it didn’t catch on?

Another boozy flavor they tried was the White Russian, which already has my name all over it (one of my faves!). It consisted of coffee-flavored ice cream and Kahlua coffee liqueur, and it actually lasted for 10 years! It first became available in 1986 and lived to see 1996. Maybe if this new Urban Bourbon flavor is a hit, it will last a while too, and B&J will be inspired to come up with more boozy inventions.
