Veggies Sold At Trader Joe’s, Walmart Recalled

A massive recall of packaged vegetables sold in U.S. stores warns public of contaminated vegetable products.
Mann Packing of Salinas, California, voluntarily initiated a widespread recall of its “minimally processed vegetables” after a single positive test for Listeria monocytogenes on one of its products during a random sampling by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. Listeria is an organism that can cause serious infections in young children, elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems, according to the company’s press release.
The press release also stated that no illnesses have been reported; however, the company issued the recall out of caution.
The recalled products were distributed throughout the U.S. and Canada with “best if used by” dates from Oct. 11 to Oct. 20. Recalled products were distributed by U.S. brands that include: Archer Farms, HEB, Little Salad Bar, Mann, Signature Farms, Trader Joe’s, Walmart, Cross Valley Farms and Sysco Natural.
Broccoli, cauliflower and other vegetable medleys have been affected at Walmart locations, and a Kohlrabi Salad Blend sold at Trader Joe’s was also among the affected products. For the complete list of affected brands and product UPC codes, visit the FDA’s official website.
Mann Packing is working closely with U.S. and Canadian health officials to assist in the massive recall. The company stated in the press release that all potentially affected products have been removed from store shelves.
All purchased recalled products should be discarded or returned at their place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers may reach Mann Packing on the company’s 24-hour line at 888-470-2681 or visit veggiesmadeeasy.com/products.
The CDC recommends that consumers thoroughly wash vegetables and fruits before cooking or prepping. They also recommend to avoid letting raw meat touch other foods, utensils or food preparation surfaces, and to always wash hands after handling meat to prevent foodborne illnesses like Listeria.
The bacteria can cause headaches, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and fever. And according to the CDC, infections during pregnancy may cause miscarriages.
If you have or suspect consumption of the recalled products, and are experiencing symptoms, notify your doctor immediately.mann packing vegetable recall
