This Girl Scout Makes A Hilarious Sales Pitch (Video)

category:

By Cooking Panda

It’s Girl Scout Cookie time again! These ladies are on the prowl for anyone who might break down and buy a box of Samoas or Thin Mints. Some will even go so far as to reach out with lengthy and honest sales pitches.

In the video below, you’ll see that Mike Rowe from the T.V. show “Dirty Jobs” received one such sales pitch. Apparently, a friend/co-worker of his has a daughter who sells Girl Scout Cookies. When she heard that her father’s best friend from high-school was pretty well-off, she hopped onto her dad’s email account and sent a lengthy sales pitch from his email. The father found this sales pitch in his “sent” folder, and got it in the right hands for her.

Rowe can’t keep from laughing and smiling while reading the witty descriptions for each of the cookies, which were included in the letter. Young Charlotte introduced herself and made sure to include a link to her website, which Rowe will show you as well (in case you’d like to go and pay tribute). She begins by letting her reader know that sometimes the Girl Scouts can commit false advertising offenses, and that she’s here to give her honest opinion on each cookie.

The lemon cookies get a decent score for their perfect balance of sweet and sour, while the peanut butter cookies get a pretty good score for being great with hot drinks. Samoas and Thin Mints are clearly her favorites and she has yet to try the S’mores cookie flavor. However, I think it’s safe to say Charlotte recommends staying as far away as possible from the “Bleak, flavorless, gluten-free wasteland” of the Toffee-tastic cookie. Don’t say she didn’t warn you!

The only reason no cookie got a perfect score of 10 is because the perfect box is a donated box, the clever 11-year-old explains. That’s when the sales pitch sneaks right in on you. Donate a box to the troops! Her goal is to sell 300 boxes, but I’m sure with Mike Rowe’s help in garnering interest, she’ll sell a whole lot more. Check out the video to hear the whole letter.

Girl Scouts Debut An Amazing Vegan S’Mores Cookie

category:

By Cooking Panda

We can hardly believe it, but the best and most magical time of the year is already upon us, and it’s only the first week of 2017!

You guessed it, folks — Girl Scout season is officially here, and they’re getting ready to celebrate an impressive 100 years of selling cookies!

Yes, really. The Girl Scouts have been around for a century, as Time reports, and their first sales date all the way back to 1917 when the troops were selling delicious, addictive cookies out of their high school cafeterias.

Obviously, the Girl Scouts have gained massive popularity since then, and 100 years after their first sales, they now generate almost $800 million in sales annually — no small feat!

This year, the Girl Scouts will be debuting their newest and delicious sounding s’mores variety of cookie, and it comes in two separate iterations.

Time reports that the first type of s’mores cookie is a square graham cookie topped first with a layer of that classic creme icing, and then enrobed in a lush chocolatey coating.

Its counterpart has a graham cracker exterior instead, and hosts a gooey and marshmallowy filling of creme and chocolate.

If that doesn’t sound tempting enough, here’s yet another compassionate and humanitarian reason to support the s’mores flavor of Girl Scouts this year — the cookie is vegan!

Will you be celebrating the Girl Scouts’ 100 year anniversary and enjoying a vegan s’mores cookie this year?

Girl Scout Cookie Cereal Is Real, And It’s On Its Way!

By Cooking Panda

Oh, 2016: just when I was ready to chalk you up as a year worth forgetting, you went and redeemed yourself.

It turns out there is hope for America yet, because Girl Scout cookies are about to get a little more accessible to fans everywhere. Only now, they’re coming in a form we’ve never, ever seen before.

Brace yourselves, folks: Girl Scout cookie cereal is a thing, and a spokesperson told BuzzFeed News that General Mills is all set to release it in two flavors as soon as next year!

Beginning in January 2017, Thin Mint and Caramel Crunch-flavored Girl Scout cookie cereal will be available for purchase, which means that you can enjoy your favorite seasonal cookies as part of a well-balanced (haha, who are we kidding) breakfast.

“We will provide additional information when we are closer to the launch,” the General Mills spokesperson told BuzzFeed.

The news was first reported by Candy Hunting’s Instagram account.

I’m not drooling. You’re drooling!

As if that wasn’t enough great news, Girl Scouts announced back in August that in celebration of 100 years of Girl Scouts selling cookies (and in celebration of National S’mores day), the brand will be releasing Girl Scout S’mores cookies, which will be carried in select markets during the 2017 cookie season.

The S’mores cooking will be available in two different versions: a crispy graham cookie that is dipped in a creme icing and then enrobed in a chocolate coating, as well as a crunchy graham sandwich cookie that is stuffed with a chocolate and marshmallowy filling.

Okay, fine. I’m drooling.

Girl Scout Cookies Are Getting A New Flavor And We Are Stoked!

category:

By Cooking Panda

August 10 is National S’mores Day! To celebrate this delicious holiday, the Girl Scouts are making a big announcement. They are marking 100 years of their organization and introducing a new s’mores cookie flavor!

The Girl Scouts report that there will be two variations of the new cookie: a graham cracker cookie dipped in icing and then coated in chocolate (3 boxes for me, please!) and a graham sandwich cookie with a marshmallow and chocolate center. Both should be enjoyed with milk, of course. While the sandwich cookie is more traditional to the s’more name, the chocolate dipped cookie is calling my name. Everything is better dipped in chocolate!

According to People Magazine, it’s only fitting that the Girl Scouts come out with a new s’mores cookie on this anniversary, since they were the ones to popularize this campfire treat in the first place. They first dubbed it the “Some More” in 1925, then the name changed to “somemores” that same year. S’more seems to be the most fitting name, since we can never get enough! What a great way to celebrate 100 years of Girl Scouts.

The cookies will debut in 2017, so don’t get too excited yet. We still have some waiting time. For now, The Girl Scouts are asking us via Facebook to share our favorite way to s’more. It looks like there are countless ways to enjoy a s’more, so let’s join in on the conversation. What’s your favorite way to s’more?
