Coca-Cola Introduces Three Flavors!

Woman Drinks Nothing but Soda for 16 Years, Discovers It’s Not In Fact Good For Her Health

By Cooking Panda

It is not news that drinking soda regularly can make a person unhealthy, but it may shock some that drinking it regularly for years can lead to serious heart problems.

One 31-year-old woman from Monaco said she drank only soda since she was 15-years-old. She had not touched water or any other drink during that time.

It was when she went to the doctor for fainting that she realized how unhealthy the habit was.

During a European Heart Rhythm Association meeting this week, the case was presented.

“The woman, who lives in Monaco, a small country near southern France, was brought to a hospital after she fainted. A blood test showed she had severely low potassium levels. And a test of her heart’s electrical activity revealed she had a condition called long QT syndrome, which can cause erratic heart beats,” they said.

“The woman did not have a family history of heart or hormone problems. But she told her doctors that, since the age of 15, she had not drunk any water – soda was the only liquid she consumed. She drank about 2 liters of cola daily, she said.”

Once she learned her cola habit was likely the cause of her heart problem, she stopped drinking it. Within a week, it fully resolved itself.

“One of the take-home messages is that cardiologists need to be aware of the connection between cola consumption and potassium loss, and should ask patients found to have QT prolongation about beverage habits,” Dr. Naima Zarqane said.

Other researchers say they should study the effects of soda on potassium levels, as it often lowers them.

Would You Try Coca-Cola With Fiber In It?

By Cooking Panda

It seems like Japan is always one step ahead of us when it comes to getting creative with our favorite food items. This time, Coca-Cola Japan has decided to add fiber into the drink.

Grubstreet reports that this new Coke with fiber is being marketed as the company’s healthiest soft drink. The new soda is called Coke Plus, and it’s in a white bottle, so steer clear if you don’t want fiber in your soda (I’ll admit I’m not brave enough for this product).

Coke Plus is a no-calorie soda with 5 grams of fiber, which is supposed “suppress fat absorption” and “moderate the levels of triglycerides in the blood.” How do you think that would taste? I guess Fiber One bars and cereals are good … but … fiber in your soda? I don’t know about that.

The biggest issue with this idea is that something similar has been tried in the past. Coke used the same product name — Coke Plus — for a product that included vitamins and minerals and such back in 2007, and not only was it not received well by customers, but the FDA had something to say about it as well.

According to The Washington Post, the FDA scolded Coca-Cola for the nutritional claims of its Coke Plus product back in 2007/2008, because in order to make the claim that it was a “plus” product, the drink needed to have 10 percent more nutrients than comparable products.

The FDA also added that it was “inappropriate” for Coke to add extra nutrients to snack foods like carbonated beverages, but that last part sounds too much like an opinion to me. Maybe some people want nutrients in their soda.

The FDA tried to tell Coke to change the name of the Plus product, but Coca-Cola fought back, saying “This does not involve any health or safety issues.”

Fast forward to 2017, and it appears Coca-Cola didn’t learn from this experience and is ready to try the Plus thing again, only this time with a fiber addition. It will be interesting to see where it goes. What do you think? Would you try it?

McDonald’s Has The Best Coke: Here’s Why

By Cooking Panda

If you are somebody who frequents fast food places for your meals, you’ve probably noticed that many of the menus have some overlapping items that you can buy.

For example, many fast food chains offer their version of crispy, warm, french fries; many also offer some variation of a burger as well. If you’re going to a Mexican type of fast food place, on the other hand, you’re probably going to be able to find a taco.

But what almost all fast food chains share in common is that they pretty much all offer soft drinks, right?

While it makes sense that somebody might favor the french fries at one chain over another, we never really thought about comparing soft drinks between establishments; however, it turns out that many people have done just that.

In fact, loads of people seem to believe that McDonald’s has the best Coke soft drink of all!

Spoon University has listen not one, not two, but five whole reasons detailing why McDonald’s has better Coke than its fast food competitors.

For one thing, apparently McDonald’s gets its Coke delivered in stainless steel containers that make the Coke taste fresher than the chains that have their Coca-Cola delivered in plastic bags.

Secondly, McDonald’s takes its water filtration methods seriously, and actually invests money to make sure its water is filtered more often than other chains.

Third, the water used in the Coke is constantly running through an insulated tube to keep it at a temperature just above freezing, which then lends your drink a super crisp, bubbly and refreshing profile, because its CO2 levels are on point.

And that’s not the only thing that gets chilled to perfection: the syrup mixed in to create Coke is also pre-chilled for your drinking pleasure.

Lastly, and this one may seem like a stretch, but the straw that McDonald’s gives out is actually slightly bigger than other fast food chains, so all of that refreshing goodness coats as many parts of your taste buds as possible with every sip.

That’s it! Are you convinced?

New Coke Bottle Takes A Selfie While You Sip

By Cooking Panda

Maybe you’ve gotten a sassy photo snapped of you while drinking a beverage, but have you ever gotten one from the bottle’s perspective? Now you can — if you get your hands on the new “selfie bottle” by Coca-Cola Israel.

The classic bottle comes with a red camera fitted at the base, which automatically takes a photo when it’s tilted at 70 degrees — or the standard sip position — according to The Drum.

Unnecessary? Yes. Gimmicky? Indubitably. But there’s something whimsical about taking a selfie from such a unique angle, as well as the surprise when you plug a USB into the camera to find your photos. Will you look serene as you sip the sugary nectar on the beach, or will you look forlorn as you chug it while lying on the couch watching 2 a.m. infomercials?

The selfie bottle is the brainchild of the Gefen Team for the Coca-Cola Summer Love campaign, a large outdoor brand event in Israel. The agency encourages Coke lovers to share their selfies on social media.

“It really does the trick and makes the party goers more present and active during the event, knowing they can share their special moments just by drinking,” the agency said in a statement, according to The Drum.

There are only a limited number of bottles available for Israel’s novelty drink market, according to Media Post, but that isn’t stopping social media users from sharing their enthusiasm for the invention.

If you think the merging of technology and food packaging is unusual, think again; early this year, Coca-Cola designed a box that can be folded into virtual reality glasses to be used with a smart phone, while KFC released a box to not only cradle your chicken but to charge your phone.

Time will tell what gimmick our technology addiction will inspire next.

This New Coca-Cola Bottle Will Bring You Cheer (Video)

By Cooking Panda

Coca-Cola is starting the party early this year with its creative new holiday bottle (video below).

The new bottle allows your Coke to look like a cute little gift, all wrapped and ready to enjoy!

The Huffington Post reports that Coca-Cola Japan is getting festive and staying jovial after an extremely divisive and — dare I say it? — exhausting election season in the U.S. The fun holiday bottle is here to remind us that the holidays are just around the corner, and we should be celebrating.

The new label works by peeling off one end, and then pulling a tab through the end that remains attached to the bottle; the rest of the label scrunches up like a quirky holiday bow! Take the pulled-out tab and wrap it around the rest of the bottle, sticking it just under the bow to keep things classy.

Currently, this fun new bottle is only available in Japan and the U.K., but I’m hoping it will make its way here to the States soon, so I can enjoy the little things as well.

Take a look at the video below to see how it works. Somehow, it’s satisfying just watching others get to do it.

Coca-Cola is known for displaying holiday cheer each season, and as we can all see, this year is no exception.

Aside from these adorable new bottles, Coke will also be bringing back the truck tour experience, according to a company press release. The truck will make 44 stops in the U.K., offering visitors a “special winter wonderland” to explore before enjoying a bottle of their favorite soda. One lucky rider will even win a sack full of goodies worth over $6,200.

Coke will also be joining forces with a U.K. charity to reduce food waste and hunger country-wide.

And let’s not forget that a new ad will be coming out! Coke is known for coming up with great holiday ads.

“Coca-Cola is synonymous with the Christmas season, and it’s no secret that our much-loved Holiday [ads] and Christmas Truck Tour mark the unofficial countdown to Christmas,” says the company’s marketing director.
