We love eating at Panera for so many reasons, but mostly because it's convenient, fast, and they have fresh, healthy options (compared to other fast food restaurants). Now, Panera is giving us one more reason to dine there: they've added pizza to the menu! The Head Chef at Panera, Claes Petersson, has developed three delicious new flatbread pizza creations. They are made on extra finely ground flour which creates a perfectly crisp crust, and they are topped with heart ingredients. The three flavor options are Cheese, Margherita, and Chipotle Chicken & Bacon. The Margherita Flatbread Pizza comes in at 760 calories for the whole pie, and it includes Basil, Market Tomato Sauce, Fontina Mozzarella Cheese Blend, Fresh Mozzarella, and Red Grape Tomatoes. The Chipotle Chicken & Bacon Flatbread Pizza comes in at 930 calories (for the entire pizza) and features Smoked Pulled Chicken, Cilantro, Garlic Cream Sauce, Fontina Mozzarella Cheese Blend, Chipotle Aioli, Red Grape Tomatoes, and Chopped Bacon. The Cheese Flatbread Pizza is 820 calories (for the entire pizza) and features the basics: Market Tomato Sauce and Fontina Mozzarella Cheese Blend. "With the launch of Flatbread Pizza, we are looking to redefine the expectation of pizza and carve out a niche for Panera in the pizza category. Our Flatbread Pizzas encompass the best of what Panera has to offer: clean, delicious ingredients from our pantry on top of oven-baked flatbread that is expertly crafted for our guests," said Petersson, Panera's Chief Food & Innovation Officer. The three flatbread pizzas are priced starting at $7.99, and all include the use of fresh mozzarella cheese. Fresh herbs such as basil and cilantro are also used depending on the flavor you choose.
