Vegan Mom Plans To Wean Baby Onto Plant-Based Diet

By Cooking Panda

New parents face a tricky dilemma when it comes to raising their newborn. There are dozens of parenting techniques out there covering every part of a baby’s upbringing. From special discipline techniques to special baby formula, it’s a period of constant decision-making made no easier by the opinions from family members and colleagues claiming parental jurisdiction. One such dilemma is veganism. Should I raise my child as a vegan?

Lydia Beauvais, a vegetarian and vegan for the past four years, made a conscious choice to wean her 18-month-old baby Sol onto a plant-based diet. When asked about her decision, the mother told Metro that the “facts are all there,” claiming her family is living proof of veganism’s health benefits.

Beauvais said her 60-year-old father, also a vegan, was told by a doctor that his health was like that of a healthy 30-year-old. In fact, both her parents are vegan and are apparently in good health for their age, according to Beauvais.

Despite her personal accounts proving otherwise, Beauvais says she still gets comments from family friends worried about Sol’s health. Sol’s mother defends, saying he is “healthy and chubby as ever.”

The topic of veganism in the parenting world is contentious. Several news stories came out in 2017 pointing fingers at vegan parents for unintentionally causing their child’s death by sticking to “alternative diets” like a strictly plant-based diet.

In 2017, WKBW reported a 7-month-old boy named Lucas died of malnutrition after being fed a vegan diet. He was found dehydrated and malnourished. The parents were sentenced to six months in prison for the unintentional death of their baby boy. Then in 2016, a 14-month-old Italian baby was found in a Milan hospital weighing just more than a 3-month-old. After further investigation, it was discovered the parents were keeping the baby on a strict vegan diet without dietary supplements.

Pediatric dietitian Ana Kristina Skrapac told The Independent that nutritional deficiencies are common in vegans. And considering the most important stage in a child’s development is the first year of life, a vegan diet could lead to more than just nutrient deficiencies. Dietitian Judy Moore said an exclusively plant-based diet could also lead to “inadequate energy intake” and “faltering growth,” according to The Independent.

The takeaway message from both dietitians was that there are no health benefits of a vegan diet over a vegetarian or meat-based diet for children.

However, vegan diets offer potential benefits due to the naturally low saturated fat content. Private dietitian Bahee Van de Bor argues that vegan parents can offset deficiencies with supplementation through fortified foods or yeast extracts. A healthy, nutritionally complete vegan diet is possible says Van de Bor, so long as the diets are carefully planned out. She advises that children’s diets should include foods rich in vitamin C to boost iron absorption from plant sources.

This Adorable Baby Girl Lights Up Around Wine (Video)

By Cooking Panda

Sometimes, babies can be finicky little creatures.

Sure, when they’re smiling and playful as can be, they’re pretty cute. However, occasionally — who are we kidding; very often — they break that sweet-as-can-be facade and turn into creatures from the swamp. They leak, they moan, they wail, they scream, they soil themselves, and they don’t give a care in the world over your sleeping or social schedule.

That’s why for many parents, it’s of the utmost priority to find out a few different foolproof methods to keep their babies smiling; sure, everybody loves to see the people closest to them happy. But just as important, when a baby isn’t happy, it means hell for everybody else.

So we’re sure these Florida parents, Yssel Jaquez and Rafael Aybar, were shocked and delighted to hilariously discover just what it is that makes their baby girl Abigail Aybar so gosh dang happy — being handed a glass of wine!

“We were just having dinner and when she doesn’t want more food or is sleepy, she starts to be cranky,” Jaquez told ABC News.

So, the parents tried to hand their baby girl juice; however, when that failed to prompt a positive reaction, Aybar then decided to hand his daughter a glass of wine, just as a joke. They recorded their girl’s exuberant joy at being handed the wine, and posted the video to Facebook on Jan. 29. As of Feb. 7, it has been viewed more than 3 million times.

“I think people like it so much because of her laugh and her reaction when she sees the wine,” Jaquez told ABC.

Of course, the couple has had to incur their fair share of criticism and even downright outrage from viewers who mistook their little bit of fun for seriousness. To them, Jaquez has only this to say:

“[There are] many different opinions about the video and the fact that we ‘give’ wine to a baby. It’s just a funny video and we’ve never provided alcohol to our kids and never will.”

Parents Demand Justice For What Happened To Baby, Get Rejected For Bizarre Reason

A mom and dad are furious after charges were dropped against their babysitter who reportedly admitted to abusing their child.

Joshua Marbury and Alicia Quinney came home one day in March and reportedly found their 1-year-old son Jacob with a black eye.

The couple took the child to the hospital and filed a police report.

Sherwood police said they were certain the babysitter was responsible, KATU News reports. A detective even said the attack could have been fatal and that the babysitter confessed to striking the child, Marbury told the New York Daily News.

But despite Jacob’s black eye, bruises and a stinging palm print on his face, charges against the babysitter were dropped due to a 2012 Oregon Court of Appeals ruling that states the victim must be able to describe the attack.

Marbury took to Facebook to slam the legislation. He wrote:

TWO months ago if not longer my 1 year old son was smacked across the right side of his face by our babysitter (keep this person anonymous) to the point where MULTIPLE doctors (who in fact showed us hand prints) and the detective said it could have killed him.

After several days if not week of being distracted at my job (only commission sales job and only source of income) we had a confession from the abuser saying they did it. STILL this person was not arrested because they had to build a case and a jury to find him guilty BEFORE they go to jail.

Side note if im not mistaken (if i strike a person in the face and the cops were called i would be put in hand cuffs immediately). After TWO months of waiting we only find out that charges are dropped BECAUSE my one year old cannot tell you verbally he was abused and my son did not show he was in pain OR that this person “intentionally” did this. I am SO furious that im not using profanity HOPING something is done and this goes viral.

The post did go viral. Since being published on May 20, the post has been shared more than 275,000 times in three days, with several people calling for justice to be served.

The couple continues to fight for a prosecution in the case.

“It’s so disturbing that they can let somebody walk around and live their life while my whole family is traumatized from this,” Quinney told the NY Daily News.

The couple said they now have trouble trusting anyone to babysit their child. Marbury said the babysitter used to be his best friend.

Quinney said Jacob is still scarred from the attack. The baby cries every time he is away from his mother.

“He definitely recovered from the bruises, but inside, this is gonna follow him,” Quinney said.

Expecting Mom Who Thought She Gave Birth To Baby In Hospital Wakes Up, Gets Stunning News

For the second time in a month, a pregnant mother has awoken from a caesarian section only to be told she was never pregnant at all. The latest apparent victim in the scheme is 30-year-old Claudia Aparecida Lopes. But Lopes’ husband, 23-year-old Alexandro Donizete Alves, knows something strange is going on. He’s reported the incident to police and is determined to find out why his newborn child has been taken from him.

“My wife did a pregnancy test at the chemist and it was positive,” Alves said. “So we made a doctor’s appointment, and he confirmed the pregnancy, even telling us it was a boy. We paid for pre-natal treatment and even went for ultrasound scans.During one of the two scans the doctor told us the birth couldn’t be natural because the child was sitting down, and it needed to be a caesarean.”

Ms. Lopes was prescribed vitamins specifically for pregnant mothers, altered her diet, and took every other health precaution pregnant women do. Why wouldn’t she? She was pregnant. Alves knows the doctor’s story that the pregnancy was imaginary isn’t true.

“My wife had a huge cut across her belly and they simply told us that there wasn’t a baby after all, it was all psychological. That’s when I called the police and registered the occurrence,” he said. “If the pregnancy was psychological, how come he accompanied the whole pregnancy. If it’s true, then I must have psychological problems too, because I saw the child on the ultrasound and so did he.”

Now, both the civil police and the Medical Council of Minas Gerais (CRM-MG) state are investigating the incident.

“We’re going to hear witnesses and examine all the documents,” Brazilian Civil Police Chief Claudia Franchi said. “The inquiry will be concluded in 30 days, but it is too early to draw any conclusions.”

Alexandre Rodrigues of the CRM-MG also spoke on his organization’s coming investigation.

“At the moment I don’t know who falsified what,” Rodrigues said. “We don’t yet know why a caesarian was carried out and everything has to be investigated. We could we dealing with a psychiatrically-disturbed patient. The investigation is to find out exactly where and in what moment the error occurred. We will examine the two ultrasound scans presented by the patient and find out if the doctor carried out the caesarian just on the basis of seeing the scans. We have the testimonies of both parties and they will be investigated.”

This Is The Note A Man Received From The Baby Next To Him (Photo)

By Cooking Panda

Most people can understand and sympathize with the fact that new parents need to travel just like everyone else, and they can’t exactly FedEx their children to wherever they are going. Unfortunately, that doesn’t make the process of being stuck on a flight with a new baby any less excruciating.

This week, as noted by The Blaze, a man found himself in that very predicament: On a lengthy flight with a family who has a new baby. In this case, though, the family thought ahead. As they all took their seats, the ‘baby’ handed the man this:

Just goes to show you: There are some very considerate babies out there.
