The Easy Way To Get A Perfect McFlurry Every Time

McDonald’s ice cream lovers have an on-again, off-again relationship with the McFlurry machine. Working only about 50 percent of the time, it’s the luck of the draw if they can nab the soft-served swirl on any given day.

When the McFlurry machine is up and running, there is still no guarantee that your McFlurry will not contain, as Metro put it, the “tiniest sprinkling of chocolate pieces and an even smaller amount of sauce” and be “incredibly disappointing.”

On the other hand, you might have ordered from a McDonald’s employee feeling extra generous, who hands you a mountainous portion, drizzled to high caramel heavens.

The times I get handed a well-topped, lavishly served McFlurry are far and few between.

But, listen up. The good people at Metro have found a solution to maximize McFlurry profits, on the off-chance that the machine is functioning that day. (I had no idea it could be this easy.)

For about 25 cents extra, you can request more toppings and sauce on your McFlurry. You’ll end up with a McFlurry with so much sauce and crunchy bits that you’ll wonder why you didn’t just ask in the first place.

If you’ve been deprived of toppings for years and looking for one to redeem all those losses, you can ask for even more for about 50 cents extra. The McFlurry hack came from U.K. customers, who shared their revelation via Twitter.

But before you start demanding more toppings from your McDonald’s employees, Metro notes that not all locations are happy to add extra toppings. A McDonald’s spokesperson told Metro, “We offer guidance around pricing, but ultimately our franchisees decide on those which are set based on a number of factors.”

Long story short, just ask. “And, if they refuse,” Metro adds, “carry on driving until you find a McDonald’s who will serve it up.”

So you can look forward to the saucy, topping-filled McFlurry of your dreams any time the McFlurry machine cranks back to life.
