Taco Bell Might Serve Fries Now, Thanks To Blink 182

Blink 182 singer and bassist Mark Hoppus summoned Taco Bell after he tweeted: “Taco Bell is better than Del Taco but Del Taco has french fries so it’s a real Sophie’s Choice of fast food.”

Taco Bell responded two days later: “That just might change soon, Mark.”

America’s subsidiary of “Yum!” is home to outrageous fast-food hybrid monstrosities: Kit Kat Chocoladilla, Firecracker Burrito (cayenne “popping crystals” also sans explosives), Airheads White Mystery Freeze, and at least three different variations of Taco Bell’s Chalupa. Uh buh, this fast-food chain does not serve french fries.

Actually, it did. A few times in 2016 (i.e., Seasoned Fries, Loaded Fries Supreme, Nacho Fries Supreme and plain old Nacho Fries), but the fried fare was offered for a limited time, in select locations, in a handful of states. French fries are not a mainstay at Taco Bell. But they might be, thanks to Hoppus.

As of now, there’s no official word on the street on Tex-Mex french fries. But we wait with bated breath, hoping Taco Bell will find a way to beat its competition, Del Taco.

As Munchies pointed out, Taco Bell has over 7,000 locations around the world, as opposed to Del Taco’s 551 spots found throughout California (where Blink 182 is from). And size definitely matters to Taco Bell (and its loyal customers) — burritos are XXL and tacos are “doubled” and “supremed.”

So, of course, our imagination runs amok at the thought of Taco Bell’ed fries; probably some cross between a Gordita, a Chalupa dipped in nacho cheese, mashed into a cheesy roll-up, then fried to oblivion.

Taco Bell, we sense an opportunity step up to the plate by way of french fries. Help us “live mas”!

Until then, Mark Hoppus’ Twitter was full of helpful advice on getting the best of both Tex-Mex worlds.

And Hoppus tweeted: “It has been brought to my attention that, theoretically, one could get Taco Bell and then drive to Del Taco for fries. In theory. Maybe.”

He later tweeted a more refined solution to fry-less dining (and this writer’s next lunch order): “Given this intriguing new development, my multi-restaurant meal would be: 2 Taco Bell bean burritos, fries and Diet Coke from McDonald’s.”
