Starbucks Japan’s New Drink Is Making Fans Go Crazy
By Cooking Panda
Just in case you were looking for yet another reason to travel to Japan, Starbucks just introduced a fabulous new drink that is only available in the enviable island nation.
Called the Coffee Jelly Frappuccino, the drink capitalizes on Japan’s love for gelatin-based desserts. It consists of bitter coffee jelly, vanilla custard sauce, blended frozen coffee, and whipped cream. Besides the delicious-sounding flavor and texture combinations, one of the main appeals of the Coffee Jelly Frappuccino is its gorgeous layers.
Based on the drink’s instant popularity on social media, we think that the Coffee Jelly Frappuccino can already be considered a success. According to Eater, the tweet announcing the beverage’s arrival has already been shared 27,000 times—and that’s before the drink has even become available to customers! We are willing to bet that the drink will become an Instagram sensation the second that it actually appears in stores.
If you’re looking to try the exciting new coffee drink for yourself, it will be available from July 2 to August 31 in Starbucks across Japan. Unfortunately, however, according to Rocket News 24, the drink will cost a cool $5.62—a steep price to pay for a pretty Instagram and a refreshing beverage. Add that to the cost of a plane ticket, and the likes might not be worth it—you be the judge!
Personally, we’ll be trying the drink by making it for ourselves this summer. It turns out that coffee jelly is extremely easy to make and utterly delicious.
