The day after Halloween marks the unspoken declaration of the holiday season. Carved pumpkins are traded in for festive wreaths, fake blood and gore swept away with Trader Joe’s Cinnamon whisk. “All I Want For Christmas” gets played at the department store and Starbucks rolls out brand new holiday cups and drinks.

As part of the coffee giant’s annual tradition, Starbucks has revealed its 20th anniversary seasonal paper cups to officially ring in the “red cup season.” And this year, the cups are mostly white with scant red shading and the design looks like a casual Christmas doodle done by Sharpie.

In seasonal cups past, Starbucks received severe backlash for its minimally designed paper cup (the lack of Christmas design provoked a “War on Christmas” crusade against the coffee chain).

The sketches on Starbucks’ new holiday cups show hands holding, gift-wrapped presents, a dressed Christmas tree, flying doves; hearts, stars and snowflakes are drawn throughout. The Sharpie doodles double as adult-appropriate coloring books too, a major trend that tends to blend with “mindfulness” and “stress-relief” remedies (which could explain why the cup’s design has not stirred up a debate. “Keep Calm and Color On” I suppose).

Leanne Fremar, executive creative director for Starbucks, told E! News that the cups this year were intentionally designed to encourage customers and baristas to make holiday cups their own. The design was created by illustrator Jordan Kay, who chose to incorporate hands holding as the center point as a symbol of love, joy and meaningful connection.

Starbucks new festive cups calls for equally festive seasonal drinks, of which there are three: Peppermint Mocha, Caramel Brulee Latte and Chestnut Praline Latte (pictured below). Starbucks is kicking off the holiday season with these returning classics. And here’s a review of what goes into these delicious hot drinks:

Peppermint Mocha is a combination of bittersweet cocoa and peppermint with espresso and steamed milk, topped with whipped cream and dark chocolate curls.

Caramel Brulee Latte is made with a rich caramel sauce, espresso and steamed milk then topped with whipped cream and caramelized sugar.

Chestnut Praline Latte features sweet caramelized chestnuts, whipped cream and spiced praline crumbs.
