Some say the trick to perfection is less: “Less is more.” Not the case with Hostess.
Hostess’s new Molten Lava Ding Dongs are more of everything: more cake, more of that delicious creme filling and more chocolate coating. If you need numbers to get a clear picture of just how much more: Brand Eating reports 30 percent more cake, 60 percent more creme filling and 20 percent more chocolate coating compared to its less-beefy counterpart.
The Junk Food aisle posted to Instagram a photo of the new Ding Dongs, which were spotted by a user at a local Meijer chain.
If there’s anything less that we could ask of Molten Ding Dongs, is to lessen the time it takes to enjoy one heated up, although 20 seconds in the microwave isn’t all that bad. Hostess said in a statement that the “ready-to-eat” dessert is a “delicious mouthful” of decadent chocolate creme and warm chocolate cake.
The ever-popular bakery company is the birthplace of Twinkies, Donettes, SnoBalls, CupCakes, Yodels — all the sweet indulgences that give rise to many tantrums when parents do not oblige that relentless sweet tooth. Luckily (hopefully), those days are of a bygone era, and you’re an adult now. Molten Lava Ding Dongs for breakfast, if you wish!
Molten Lava Ding Dongs come in 10-count boxes and can be found in the frozen food section at grocery stores nationwide.
Also found in the frozen food aisle, Ding Dong Ice Cream sandwiches, released earlier this year. In fact, most of your favorite Hostess treats can be found in the frozen section: Sno Balls Bar and ice cream, Twinkies Ice Cream and Twinkies Cone.
Not found in the frozen food aisle, but still worthy of note: Hostess’s Deep-Fried Twinkies.
These recent roll-outs arrived after the bakery company announced bankruptcy in 2012, but from the looks of it, the company is keeping afloat and expanding its products to the frozen food aisle and beyond.
Food and Wine reports Hostess also launched Chocolate Twinkies, White Fudge Ding Dongs, Candy Corn CupCakes and even Twinkie-branded cappuccinos, which you can find at some convenience stores.Ding Dongs, molten lava chocolate
