McDonald’s Tests Out Made-To-Order Garlic Fries!

McDonald’s customers in the San Francisco Bay Area will be able to enjoy made-to-order garlic fries.
The golden arches is testing out local flavors and foods on menus throughout the nation, according to the McDonald’s Newsroom. As Gilroy, California, has been nicknamed “The Garlic Capital of the World,” lucky McDonald’s customers in the Bay Area will get to enjoy Gilroy Garlic Fries in the upcoming months.
In the testing phase, the fries are being served in four restaurants throughout the South Bay, three of which are in San Jose and one in Santa Clara, as noted by the San Francisco Eater. If customers enjoy the regional dish, it will be available at 250 locations throughout the San Francisco Bay Area in August.
“The response from our customers has been very positive,” said Nick Vergis, Co-op President in the San Francisco Bay Area. “We enjoy giving our customers options and bringing this local flavor to our world famous French fries.”
Gilroy Garlic Fries are made-to-order in stainless steel bowls with a puree mixture of chopped Gilroy garlic, olive oil, parsley, parmesan cheese, and a bit of salt. The garlic is provided by the family-owned Christopher Ranch in Gilroy, California, which is the largest garlic production establishment in the nation.
“We’re proud of the work done by local franchisees and the regional team to create this menu item with locally-sourced garlic and we look forward to introducing Gilroy Garlic Fries to our customers in the Bay Area,” said Chef Michael Haracz, Manager of Culinary Innovation at McDonald’s USA.
