An Alabama woman with a history of drug abuse is behind bars after allegedly killing her husband’s dog in order to fake a miscarriage (video below).

Johnny Parker from Lawrence County, Alabama, told WAFF his wife, Anita Parker, 43, had been pretending that she was pregnant for seven months. At the time, he said he had no reason not to believe her, even though she would never let him accompany her to doctor’s appointments.

"She sends me pictures of the ultrasounds, a little boy," he said. "I guess she pushed her belly out all the time, because she looked like she was [pregnant]."

On May 19, Anita reportedly called Johnny in distress, and he thought she was about to give birth.

"She called me right before I got to the store to get gas to say that she was cramping real bad," Johnny recalled. "She’s about to call 911."

When Johnny returned home, Anita was covered in blood. She reportedly told him she had a miscarriage and flushed the remains down the toilet.

However, after they went to the hospital, Johnny received some unexpected news.

"Then they tell me, she wasn't pregnant, she never has been pregnant," Johnny said.

Anita left the hospital with a family member, and Johnny headed home. When he arrived home, he realized his dog, an 8-month-old Chihuahua, was nowhere to be found.

"I got home and was looking for my Chihuahua man, and she found it in the garbage," Johnny recalled. "The crazy woman had gutted the dog and used the blood all over my bed and stuff like she had a miscarriage. Told them she flushed the 7-month-old baby down the toilet. Ain't no way."

Anita is facing charges of animal cruelty and may face additional charges regarding her 911 call. She’s being held on a $7,000 bond at Lawrence County Jail.

"You can't have a heart and do something like that, ain't no way," he said. "She's cold-hearted, man. She didn't have to kill the dog like that.”

On the WAFF-48 Facebook page, commenters were appalled and confused by the situation.

"Can't decide which is more sick & evil, that she thought saying she flushed her stillborn down the toilet was perfectly acceptable or what she really did with the poor dog," Mindy Collins wrote.

Lawrence County Sheriff Gene Mitchell told WAFF this has been one of the strangest cases of his career.

"I've been around a long time," Mitchell said. "I've never seen anything just this way. We've had some weird cases over the years but this is just top of the line as far as weird."
