Man Puts Soda In Water Cup At McDonalds, Is Later Arrested

What would you do for a soda?
The soft drink industry in America is huge. According to a 2015 study by Brandon Gaille, more than $75 billion of soda is purchased annually, with the average American consuming 44 gallons of soda every year.
It appears some people will go to great lengths to get their carbonated fix. On April 17, for example, Cody Morris, 18, was arrested for putting soda in a water cup at a McDonald’s in Arkansas, and refusing to return the unpaid-for beverage, reports 40/29 News.
According to the police report, the manager of the restaurant called to report a robbery after three men in the drive-thru allegedly ordered three large waters. They then proceeded to dump out the water, enter the establishment, and refill the empty cups with soda.
Upon being confronted by the manager, two of the men returned their sodas. Morris, however, reportedly fled the scene.
The manager says he was unsuccessful in his attempt to prevent Morris from leaving, because when he stood behind the suspect’s car, Morris reversed and reportedly hit the manager.
Police later caught up with Morris at a nearby bowling alley. According to ABC Chicago, Morris was reportedly charged with a felony and subsequently released on $2,500 bond.
Perhaps we should all take this as an incentive to cut back on our soda consumption.
