Truly, if 2016 is going down as anything, it will be as the year of the alternative dairy-milk options.

Pea milk, cockroach milk, -- the world is your lactose-free oyster these days, and now Fresh Start Beverage Co. is offering up yet another option.

"We are the first company to actually make milk from a universally loved fruit -- bananas. We call it Banana Wave," H.E. Neter Kush Ben Alkebulan, co-founder and chief beverage officer, told the Miami Herald, adding that the company’s mission is to help bolster humanity’s collective health.

The milk harnesses the superfood qualities of bananas -- its packed with potassium, vitamin C, fiber, calcium, and omega-3 fatty acids (the ones that are good for you) to provide you with a lactose- and gluten-free milk alternative.

Additionally, the beverage (which is a puree of seeds, grains, and bananas) is low in sodium (no water retention!), low in sugar, and contains no cholesterol. Calorie counters will be happy to note that it is also only 150 calories.

At the moment, the milk can be found at Whole Foods supermarkets in Florida; however, co-founders Alkebulan and Trendolyn Hopkins report plans to get their products in Walmart, Kroger, and Publix stores, hopefully by next year.
