Costco’s Emergency Food Kit Will Last For 25 Years

In light of recent disasters like Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria and talks of nuclear bomb threats, Costco’s emergency food kit has been taken in with immediate interest.
The bulk warehouse store sells an impressive one-year emergency food kit. With 6,200 servings of food, it provides “enough meals for 1,200 calories per day for one adult for a year and has a 25-year shelf life,” reports Today.
“The idea came about making a great starter kit for a family who wanted to prepare for any kind of disaster,” a Costco representative told Today. “This is a great value with shipping included.”
The one-year emergency pack (priced at $999.99) is from the brand Nutristore, a “nutrition-focused, budget-conscious, shelf-stable” food storage company, which offers food and water storage kits, and organizational shelves to boot.
According to Nutristore’s website, “Preparedness equals peace of mind.” And that’s exactly what you can get with their one-year emergency food kit, which features fruits, vegetables, grains, dairy chicken, beef, lentils in various freeze-dried and dehydrated forms. Salt and sugar are also included (enjoying the taste of your meal is crucial to surviving a hypothetical apocalypse).
“We have had the emergency food kit category for over 10 years,” the Costco representative told Today. “This [the $1,000 kit] is one of our top selling items right now.”
The kits became popular after the Detroit Free Press ran an article on Oct. 1 titled “Seeking to Survive a Disaster?” in which the Costco kits were mentioned.
Ken Dalto, a retail expert with Kenneth J. Dalto in Bingham Farms, told the Detroit Free Press that the customers are “working people who fear for their lives.”
If you’re seeking long-term preparedness, Nutristore sells an even larger food kit for $6,000; the apocalypse is equivalent to “the works.”
You can be assured of how covered you are just by looking at the product photo on Costco’s website, which shows two pyramids of emergency foods, boxed and stacked beside a 6-foot man, for comparison.
The website specifies the kit holds 36,000 servings, enough food to feed one person for 1,460 days, and lasts for up to 25 years.000 Emergency Food Kit Lasts Up To 25 Years, Costco's $1
