Looking for Peeps? You’re Going to Have to Wait Until Easter
By Cooking Panda
It’s 2020, so of course the hits just keep on coming. Although far less serious than a lot of things this year, we do have some more sad news to share: Peeps will not be releasing their Halloween-themed marshmallows. Or their Christmas ones. Or their Valentine’s Day ones. You see where this is going: Peeps won’t be releasing any of their themed marshmallow treats until Easter 2021.
Peeps are best known as the cute little marshmallow chicks and bunnies, covered in sugar and colored bright pink and yellow. Their appearance on shelves usually means that spring and Easter baskets are right around the corner. In normal years though, Peeps aren’t just an Easter treat. The marshmallow candies come in all sorts of fun shapes around all of the holidays, like adorable ghosts and jack-o-lanterns around Halloween or hearts around Valentine’s Day.
Like everyone this year though, Peeps and the company that produces them, Just Born Quality Confections, were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Peeps production stopped in March, and although some production has started back up again, the company is focused on getting enough Peeps ready for Easter, instead of trying to produce for every holiday in between.
Easter is the biggest holiday for Peeps, so it makes sense, but we will miss those little ghost Peeps this year. If you find yourself really pining for some Peeps, here’s your reminder that there are dozens of amazing Peeps sculptures and dioramas that you can browse through over on their website.
