• 20 Small knot or window pane mini pretzels
  • 20 Rolo or other chocolate covered caramel candies
  • 20 Pecan halves

Step 1: Prepare a lightly greased cookie sheet-using a spray is just fine- and preheat your oven to 250 degrees.
Step 2: Lay out your 20 pretzels on the cookie sheet in the pretzel shape that you prefer. The windowpane pretzels especially hold the candies well.
Step 3: Place the chocolate covered caramel candy on top of each pretzel and bake the treats for approximately three to five minutes. Do not let the candies overcook and melt! The candies should be soft and shiny, but not melted.
Step 4: Once you remove the cookie sheet from the oven, place a half pecan on top of each melted candy.
Step 5: Once the pecan is in place, cool the candies in the refrigerator.
Step 6: Once the turtles are fully cooled, store them in an airtight container for freshness.
Recipe makes 20 turtles in about ten minutes.

Turtles also make a great gift. Find a fun or creative box, bag, tin or basket at your local craft store and decorate with ribbons. Remember to put the candies in an airtight baggie.
*Other ideas for candies also include M & M’s or Hershey’s kisses with caramel inside.
