As the saying goes, too much of something is poison. Even the normally harmless substance can turn out to be hazardous if consumed in large amounts. Generally this can amount to substance abuse.

Monster Energy Drink Cited in Deaths.

One energy drink producing company is currently facing charges in a court of law after it was sued being accused of taking hand in the killing of about 5 people in a period of 3 years. Monster Beverage produces a wide range of energy drinks among which are Monster Heavy Metal, Monster Assault and Rehab.

The company has taken responsibility of warning consumers about the nature of their drinks. There are age limits for consumption such as the drinks are not to be sold to persons under the age of 12 years. Another is the fact that their products are not open to people who have a high sensitivity of caffeine.

The ingredient caffeine can naturally found in beverages such as coffee and tea. It is used to help one feel more active and reduces fatigue. However if this substance is taken in large quantities, it can cause irregular heartbeats and consequently cardiac arrests/heart attacks.

The Food and Drugs Administration makes it clear that a company is not obliged to stating the exact levels of such drugs as caffeine on their labels. It is fully the responsibility of the consumer to exercise caution and follow the instructions indicated on a company’s products. In case these instructions are assumed, the company is to be in no way held responsible.

In the case of the five teenagers who are said to have died as a result of high levels of caffeine present in the Monster energy drink, medical reports on the same whatsoever don’t show a connection between the deaths( or any other medical condition for that matter) and the drink.

The company strongly stands up to the plaintiff and supports their claim by saying that their products are regulated by the food control department. It can only be left to the court to decide on this contradicting case.

The number of people dropping dead as a result of excessive energy drinks is on the rise. Most of these, unfortunately, being healthy, energetic youth; who otherwise have a whole life a head of them. It is rather saddening to see much energy and talent go to waste. Therefore precaution ought to be paramount.
