Granny’s Quick Apple Pie Recipe
Apple pie is the classic dessert or tea time snack. This apple pie recipe is quick and easy to make and comes out perfect each and every time. It is advised to use either cooking or Bramley apples for your filling. Any type of apple will work fine with this recipe but make cook differently.
Step 1- Place your flour, salt and butter into a large mixing bowl.
Step 2- Knead the butter in your flour using your fingertips until it resembles breadcrumbs, working quickly in order to prevent your dough from becoming warm.
Step 3- Begin adding water to your mixture and using a knife stir the dough until it begins to bind together. Continue adding cold water one teaspoon at a time if your mixture becomes too dry.
Step 4- Wrap your dough in Saran wrap and allow it to chill for 15 to 30 minutes.
Step 5- Heat your oven to 425.
Step 6- Begin simmering the apples in a large pot with lemon juice until they become soft. Add your sugar and cinnamon to your apples. Remove the pot from heat, add the butter and let it set aside to cool.
Step 7- Rollhalf the pastry out and line a 7 inch pie dish with it. Place your cooled, cooked apples on top of the pastry case.
Step 8- Roll the remaining pastry out to make your pie cover. Dampen all of the pastry edges using a little bit of cold water. Next, cover your apples with the cover and pinch the edges together and crimp to decorate your pie.
Step 9- Brush across the top of your pie crust with milk and bake on the top oven rack for 20 to 25 minutes.
Step 10- Serve and enjoy you delicious apple pie.
Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a yummy treat.
