- 1/2 pound ground pork
- 6 tablespoons flour
- 1 tablespoon annatto powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper ground
- 1 shrimp flavor cube
- 2 tablespoon fish sauce
- 3 cups broth (pork)
- 2 tablespoon cooking oil
- Toppings:
- 3 tablespoon fried garlic
- 2 hard boiled and sliced eggs
- 1 cup pork, boiled and sliced thinly
- 1/2 cup smoked fish flakes
- 1/2 cup pork crackling (pounded)
- 1/2 cup boiled shrimps
- 1/4 finely chopped scallions
- 2 pieces sliced lemon
Palabok is a delicious noodle dish with a variety of ingredients such as boiled pork, tinapa flakes, crushed crispy pork crackling, fried garlic and scallions topped with shrimp sauce. The Palabok recipe is very easy to make and the ingredients are readily available.
Instructions:
Step 1 – In a small bowl, soak rice for 15 minutes. Drain water and set aside.
Step 2 – Prepare the sauce. Heat oil in a saucepan and saute ground until cooked. Mix annatto powder in broth and add to the saucepan. Add shrimp cubes and simmer for about 3 minutes. Add flour while continually stirring. Add black pepper and fish sauce and simmer the sauce until it becomes thick.
Step 3 – In a pot, boil enough water and submerge the noodles using a strainer for 1 minute. Remove and drain the water. Place noodles in a plate.
Step – 4 pour sauce on the noodles. Top with the rest of the ingredients for toppings. Serve with lemon slices.
This Palabok recipe serves 6. Cooking time is about 20-30 minutes.
