• 3/4 cup pecans
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 2/3 cup of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour



Butter Pecan Cookies are a classic treat that will have everyone begging for more, but only if done correctly. Not just any Butter Pecan Cookies recipe will douse the fire of hunger, but this one just might.

Makes about 12 cookies in approximately 25-35 minutes.

 

Step 1: preheat oven to 350° F
Step 2: on a baking sheet, toast pecans until fragrant, about 6 minutes
Step 3: let cool completely, and then chop finely
Step 4: with an electric mixer, cream butter for about 1 minute
Step 5: Add 1/3 cup of sugar and cream until light, about 1 minute
Step 6: beat in vanilla, salt, and flour, scraping down sides of the bowl, until dough comes together
Step 7: fold in pecans
Step 8: separate dough into 12 pieces, squeezing dough to shape into spheres
Step 9: roll pieces in sugar
Step 10: place 3 inches apart on a baking sheet
Step 11: gently flatten with the bottom of a glass (reshaping sides if necessary)
Step 12: sprinkle with sugar
Step 13: bake until golden brown, rotating sheet halfway through, for about 15 minutes
Step 14: sprinkle with more sugar
Step 15: Let cool and enjoy
